Hey golf fam! ποΈββοΈ Let me tell you about how two absolute legends wrapped up their 2025 at the PNC Championship down in Orlando at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club!
Our girl Nelly Korda teamed up with her dad Petr for some serious family bonding on the course. And let me just say, the apple does not fall far from the tree because Petr was a total beast in tennis back in the day, ranking as high as second in the world! πΎ
The Korda crew absolutely CRUSHED it with a T4 finish at 25-under for the tournament. They opened with a smoking 60 in the scramble format, including one eagle and TEN birdies. Seven of those birdies came in a ROW from holes 5 through 11. Like, are you kidding me?! π₯
Day two? Even better. They fired a 59 with two eagles and nine birdies. They finished tied with Steve and Izzi Stricker, just one shot back of second place. The Kuchars, Matt and Cameron, took home the trophy with a seven-shot victory.
Nelly got all the feels talking about playing with her dad: "For me, it is a great way to end the year, to play alongside my dad. Those are core memories that you get to look back on for the rest of your life." She also mentioned how lucky they have been to play with Lee Trevino during this event. Icon behavior! π
Now let us talk about the GOAT Annika Sorenstam! π The 72-time LPGA Tour winner and Hall of Famer partnered with her 14-year-old son Will McGee for this parent-child showdown. The Lake Nona locals finished 18th at 16-under overall.
They started strong with a 61 in round one, racking up 11 birdies including five straight from holes 4 through 8. Day two was a bit quieter with a 67, but honestly, it is not about the scorecard for these two.
Will shared how much he loves being inside the ropes: "Being inside the ropes is a lot of fun, and being alongside (my mom) makes it even better." My heart! π
Annika called the event the highlight of their year and gushed about watching Will improve: "His game has gotten a lot better. It is fun to watch him and see him blossom and be up front, a front seat."
Looking ahead to 2026, both Nelly and Annika are locked in for the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. Nelly will be competing in the LPGA division while Annika will be bringing her A-game to the celebrity division. Cannot wait to see them back in action! β³
